Alayna is a Nerd Girl

And that's a wonderful thing!

I'm sure you remember Alayna Westcom's visit to Section 36 back in August of 2015 while she was

wearing the Miss Vermont crown. Since then, her visit has become the most read visit to Section 36 so far! 

While she visited, I was struck by the fact that her talent for the Miss America competition was a science experiment. What an incredible thing to see on the Miss America stage. It also fit in perfectly with her platform of getting STEM classes focused on by America's schools. Clearly this was something that was important to her, as it should be.

She hasn't stopped working towards that goal since turning over her crown. 

In fact, she recently revealed that she will be making an online appearance with Nerd Girls, where she'll be talking about forensics, and getting more women involved in STEM. I can't think of a better idea.

While the date of her appearance has yet to be released, it's on its way! Until then, I strongly suggest you head over to Nerd Girls and look around. Even better, make a donation to support the launch of the site and help bring their worthwhile content to the masses.
